"I think, therefore..... I've a headache."
Darn dis drawl, dat desecrates Descartes........ but the above quote indeed describes me. I sincerely try hard to hardly involve that wierd-looking-thing-on-my-shoulders because like entropy, the confusion it creates is always increasing, and that's not just for the hapless chap interacting with me, but it leaves me groping too!!!
You alright?
Hmm..... So now for some site specific serious stuff:
Literature/Reading: I feel this world is a place worth living because of what I would term as the "Trilogy of Gods of Humor" - Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchet & PG Wodehouse. A special thanks to Bill Watterson, for creating 'Calvin and Hobbes' - undoubtedly the most amazing cartoon strip in this universe! 100 Years of Solitude, Chronicle of a Death Foretold (Marquez), The Sound and the Fury (Faulkner), Catch 22 (Heller) are a few scintillating pieces of work apart from what comes out of Rushdie's box.... Harper Lee's 'To Kill a Mocking Bird' is the most beautiful book ever written... Khaled Hosseini's 'The Kite Runner' comes a close next. 'Surely you're joking Mr Feynman' is one great book for anyone in love with Physics! I also liked the style of Sandor Marai after reading his masterpiece - Embers, that my sweetheart gifted me! :) Last but not the least, Nick Mason's 'Inside Out - A Brief History of Pink Floyd', with its trademark charmingly dry & witty British humor, is a great read too. And you'll very soon know why I recommend it! ;)
In the current era of novelists, Erich Segal with his style that usually touches the heart warmly, Arthur Hailey & Dave King (Do read his book 'The Ha-Ha') with their enormous precision-filled stories and intimate style of writing, are authors worth reading.
Music: Rock would be Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, GnR, Pink Floyd, Linkin Park, Pink Floyd, U2, Neil Young, Joe Satriani, R.E.M. & Coldplay... Oh and yes... Pink Floyd!:-D Also like & listen to Ronan Keating, Sting, Roxette, Suzanne Vega, MLTR, Hank Williams, Rufus Wainwright, The Corrs (Ooooh the gorgeous Andrea Corr!!!) frequently. Simon and Garfunkel's soulful scores, Marc Anthony's sexy songs and Mark Knopfler's gorgeous guitar are fantabulous stuff.... And I have a peculiar propensity to develop a liking for OSTs of movies instantly - some of my favourite ones are: American Beauty, Dirty Dancing, Braveheart, Shrek I and Pulp Fiction.
Visit this aswesome site: www.musicplasma.com to find artists/bands that match your taste. And here's my blog-page: itzthedarksideofthemoon.blogspot.com
Movies: Pulp Fiction, School of Rock, Phone Booth, The Italian Job, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Frequency, American Beauty & Shrek(s), Monsters Inc., Mr. & Mrs. Iyer, Anand, Masoom, Andaz Apna Apna, Rang De Basanti, Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi, Taare Zameen Par (last 6 are Indian) are wonderful movies. I'd the fortune of attending a children's film festival sometime before, where classical films from Germany were showcased, and it was a highly enjoyable time watching ''Punktchen und Anton'' and ''Two Times Lotte''! :) Strongly recommended, especially if you can get the B&W version (with subtitles of course, if you can't understand German like me)
Nevertheless... "The Shawshank Redemption" would be the most brilliant movie ever made in history of mankind!
If you've survived and reached till here, do send me a message too! :)
PS: The photograph is the stuffed toy collection of my 11 month old niece! :) I've titled it "The towering innocence''. |
